How to change your name on Zoom when joining a meeting

  • When you join a Zoom meeting (on the desktop app, mobile app, or web app), you can enter the meeting ID number and have the option to update your name.
  • If you’re signed in, change your name if you don’t want your default name to appear. If you’re not signed in, enter a display name that will appear to other meeting participants.

How to change your name:

Using Windows | macOS | Linux

  1. Join a Zoom meeting on the Zoom desktop app.
  2. On the Zoom in-meeting controls, click Participants ().
  3. Hover your mouse over your name, then click the ellipsis (three dots ).
  4. Click Rename, a pop-up box will then appear.
  5. In the pop-up box, enter the name you need to display.
  6. Click Change.
  7. The proper name should now appear.

Using Android or Apple Phones, tablets, laptops, etc.

  1. Join a Zoom meeting on the Zoom mobile app.
  2. On the Zoom in-meeting controls, tap Participants ().
  3. Tap your name, then tap Rename, a pop-up box will then appear.
  4. In the pop-up box, enter the name you need to display.
  5. Tap Done.
  6. The proper name should now appear.

Using the Web

  1. Join a Zoom meeting on the web app.
  2. On the Zoom in-meeting controls, click Participants ().
  3. Hover your mouse over your name, then click More.
  4. Click Rename, a pop-up box will appear.
  5. In the pop-up box, enter the name you need to display.
  6. Click Change.
  7. The proper name should now appear.
