How to change your name on Zoom when joining a meeting
- When you join a Zoom meeting (on the desktop app, mobile app, or web app), you can enter the meeting ID number and have the option to update your name.
- If you’re signed in, change your name if you don’t want your default name to appear. If you’re not signed in, enter a display name that will appear to other meeting participants.
How to change your name:
Using Windows | macOS | Linux
- Join a Zoom meeting on the Zoom desktop app.
- On the Zoom in-meeting controls, click Participants (
). - Hover your mouse over your name, then click the ellipsis (three dots
). - Click Rename, a pop-up box will then appear.
- In the pop-up box, enter the name you need to display.
- Click Change.
- The proper name should now appear.
Using Android or Apple Phones, tablets, laptops, etc.
- Join a Zoom meeting on the Zoom mobile app.
- On the Zoom in-meeting controls, tap Participants (
). - Tap your name, then tap Rename, a pop-up box will then appear.
- In the pop-up box, enter the name you need to display.
- Tap Done.
- The proper name should now appear.
Using the Web
- Join a Zoom meeting on the web app.
- On the Zoom in-meeting controls, click Participants (
). - Hover your mouse over your name, then click More.
- Click Rename, a pop-up box will appear.
- In the pop-up box, enter the name you need to display.
- Click Change.
- The proper name should now appear.
